The Bar Association of Norfolk County seeks a part-time Executive Director to manage its daily operations, oversee financial activities, foster relationships with members and external stakeholders, execute programs and events, and serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization.
The Executive Director serves as the chief administrative officer of the Bar Association, responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management of the organization. This role ensures the effective execution of the Association’s mission, supports its members, and enhances its presence within the legal and broader community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Governance & Board Relations
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to implement the Association’s mission and strategic goals.
- Provide timely and accurate reports, including financial statements and policy recommendations.
- Organize and support Board and committee meetings, including agenda preparation and documentation.
2. Program Development & Events
- In collaboration with the Norfolk Probate & Family Court, manage the Norfolk County ADR Program.
- Oversee and attend Evening Clinics.
- Plan and execute CLEs, networking events, community outreach, and other member-focused programs.
- Support committees and volunteers in delivering high-quality services and events.
3. Operations & Administration
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including staff supervision (if applicable), technology, and office management.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Implement policies and procedures to improve organizational efficiency.
4. Membership Services
- Foster member engagement and satisfaction through responsive service and relevant programming.
- Actively recruit volunteers for BANC programs.
- Identify member needs and develop initiatives to support professional development and networking.
- Maintain accurate membership records and promote growth.
5. Financial Management
- Ensure fiscal integrity through sound financial practices, reporting, and compliance.
- Oversee dues collection, billing, and financial recordkeeping.
6. Communications & Public Relations
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Association.
- Manage internal and external communications, including newsletters, website, and social media.
Qualifications and skills desired
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of leadership experience in nonprofit, legal, or association management.
- Strong financial acumen. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in technology and digital communication tools.
Compensation:
$50,000 – $60,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
